Parent's night out

Wes and I had our first evening out with Finley away overnight.  Grandma Phyllis offered to keep Finley overnight last Saturday (1/21/12) and with a little hesitation we decided it would be good for us.  We went to George's to see Stoney Larue and met the Ruddick's and Katey there.  Grandma Phyllis kept us updated with text messages, which helped ease our separation anxiety.  We had a great time, maybe a little too much fun, and stayed out way too late.  Grandma Phyllis claimed that Finley was "perfect" and she ended up keeping her until noon the next day.  We celebrated Grace's 4th birthday that afternoon and then it was home for a nap for one tired momma!  That evening we went to Justin and Russlyn's for dinner and Finley loved Sally, Russlyn's shih tzu.

This week Finley has wanted to be held more than usual.  She doesn't want us to just hold her, but to carry her around wherever we go.  She is getting frustrated because she's ready to start moving, yet she won't stay on the floor long enough to learn how to crawl.  It appears that it might not be too much longer because she is pushing up to her knees but then just splats face down.  I'm trying not to make too big of deal when she hits her face on the ground or whops herself in the face with something, but I usually gasp and follow it up with a "you're okay" and that seems to keep her from crying most of the time.

She is continuing to try new foods, which is resulting in a whole new experience in diaper changing.  She is doing really good at feeding herself milk form a sippy cup and this allows us to get a few things done during that time as well.   She has kind of gotten spoiled about going back to sleep in the bed with daddy in the mornings, but I must admit it is so cute to see her in the big bed all warm and snuggly next to her daddy.

She's quickly outgrowing her 6-9month old outfits and even had a blowout in one of her pajamas.
Finley got to meet her third cousin Karen and her Great Great Aunt Cookie.  Wes, Grandma Phyllis and Finley met them for lunch at Neil's Cafe.  We look forward to seeing them again now that Karen lives in the area.
